Why these particular features?
I made my first sling some 12 years ago, a large soft affair that was thoroughly
impractical. Then with my first child I had an organic cotton sling with
no shoulder seam. I carried my son around a lot in this even though it
was too big. I found it very difficult to understand the instructions at
first and had a couple of near misses as the shoulder opened up, but I
loved it. I lost this sling so made a replacement: a too rough cotton affair,
but with a shoulder seam for safety. My son grew out if it and onto his
legs. Then came baby number two, and in preparation I made the best sling
I could with the finest fabrics and detailing, this time incorporating
smootht lining and a shoulder stiffener to make it easier to use. My sister's
baby warranted another redesign –- and so came the nappy pocket and
Velcro closers. Then an ingenious friend suggested a fleece liner would
be some much nicer for winter, and no need to invest in a who new sling.
And voila we reach the babypod.

Why a fitted sling?
Obviously we love fitted slings, so heres our honest reply. Because we prefer
them, getting the size right at the beginning is worth it. Adjustable slings
are one-size fits all so less hassle when buying them at first. However we
feel getting the right size and then never having to touch another buckle
is well worth the effort and comfort. With the babypod there's no rings to
adjust wrongly or to slip, theres no buckles or meters of rope to tie round
your body. No hard bits to come into contact with your baby, or to dig into
you. You can even change your babys position whilst he remains in the sling
and you can even change the carrier without wakening your baby. It means
your baby is safely held and you look smoother, less ‘bulky.
Tell me more about sizing
Your baby should be held in a womb-like snug pouch. When you put the babypod
on it should reach your hip bones and no lower as it will be impossible to
walk normally. Any lower and you need a size smaller. If your babypod is
too large you may experience back fatigue and lower back pain. You should
be able to pull the outer side of the pouch area open to between 10-20 cm –- enough
to get a baby in easily. Your babypod can sit around your belly button or
lower it is up to you. However if it feels too tight or you cant get your
baby in you will need a larger size. You have to get the sizing right, theres
no two ways around it, that why we offer the pay for two and get one refunded
option.

Will the fabric stretch?
Babypod has just a little stretch, some give, so it moulds round your baby
and your shoulder to give maximum comfort. Our material is the weight of
light jeans: strong but not rough or rigid. Our fleece liners feel just like
a cosy jumper with inbuilt stretch. We don't use stretchier fabric like solid
lycra even though it has some great patterns as you baby bounces too much.
We don't use 100% cotton as it is too rigid and it creates a friction
when getting your baby in that makes the process ungainly.

Tell me more about baby size
Babypod is ideal for newborns as it cosies them in and gives them some privacy to sleep and feed. Older babies love facing out and having a nap lying down. Older toddlers can enjoy running around and a ‘wee’ carry when theyre tired or need to be safely contained. Invaluable at busy airports and on cranky days. As your baby grows it’s requirements of the babypod will change. The amount of carrying you do will decrease as your child grows however sometimes your toddler will want a carry. Carrying your toddler with a babypod is easier than without.. and carrying your toddler on a bad day is easier than not! I have a sway back so found the sling as a fulltime transport system only good until around 6 months, then I moved on to a sling under the pram so I could carry my baby when they desired. By 2 years the walking obsession began and my children only wanted the babypod as a rest and a cuddle.

Is Babypod Padded?
Our closing bands crate a soft edge to the babypod. The shoulder has stiffening to make it easy to wear, whilst nappy in the pocket creates a dual purpose padding for the shoulder area.

Can my baby fall out?
The Velcro closers ensure your baby is snugly held at all times. She cannot
even fall out when you jump up and down or leaning backward and forward violently –- not
that we suggest it with a real baby, try it with a doll if you like, its
nice to have peace of mind

Will my baby get too hot or too cold?
Remember to check your baby's temperature, for instance when you come in from
a walk and take off your jacket. Our fleece liners are like wearing an extra
blanket so check in, and don't use them in warm environments.

Can I exchange my babypod?
We understand how long weeks can feel with a newborn so send your babypod back and we will promptly exchange for a better fitting babypod.

Hip seat position feels a bit unsafe - any suggestions?
If when changing your baby's position from cuddled in to a sitting position
like ‘hip
seat sometimes you find that your baby is leaning too far back and at risk
of falling out. What you need to do is seal the velcro closers to a comfortable
position or make the babypod smaller by flipping the shoulder pocket. The
pouch end remains the same, but the pocket velcro faces your shoulder instead
of your neck.

Is Babypod machine washable?
Yes! All our slings can be washed at 40 degrees and hung up to dry. We don't
advise tumble drying as it can effect the stretchiness and longevity of your
babypod.
